Director & Head Coach
Coach Kate Chronic joined Midway Aquatics Club in April 2013 as the new Head Coach and Director of the club. Prior to joining Midway, Coach Chronic was coaching with Excel Aquatics in Nashville, Tennessee from August 2007-April 2013 where she was a full time Assistant Coach training swimmers at both the MTSU Recreation Center site and Brentwood site as well as assisting with the team administration. Before moving to Tennessee, Coach Chronic was the Head Coach for CATS Aquatic Team in Libertyville, Illinois from April 2001 to August 2007. She was also the Head Swim Coach, Men’s Varsity Team at Libertyville High School, Libertyville, Illinois. While at CATS, Kate was responsible for all aspects of competitive swimming team, daily development and implementation of workouts, stroke development, weight training, dryland exercises for approximately 250 athletes age 5 to post collegiate and Masters level. She has coached numerous athletes to the Sectional, Junior National, National, and Olympic Trials level in addition to coaching numerous high school All-Americans. Coach Chronic is currently a Level 4 ASCA Coach member.
Coach Kate Chronic has served many roles with USA Swimming, Illinois Swimming and Southeastern Swimming. She is currently serves asa USA Swimming National Board of Review Member, the Southern Zone Senior Coordinator, a member of the Illinois Swimming Rules and Regulations Committee and is a member of the Illinois Swimming Nominating Committee. She also currently serves USA Swimming as a member of the USA Swimming Sports Medicine Network and the National Team Managers pool. She previously served USA Swimming on the USA Swimming Club Development Committee, USA Swimming Age Group Planning Committee, and USA Swimming Central Zone Board of Directors. She has served on the Illinois Swimming Board of Directors as the Safety Coordinator, Rules & Regulations Chairperson, Age Group Vice-Chairperson, and Website Coordinator. While coaching with Excel Aquatics she served on the Southeastern Swimming Board of Directors as Southeastern SwimmingAdministrative Vice-Chair, Open Water Swimming Coordinator, and Southeastern Swimming Bylaws Coordinator.
Coach Chronic received her BA in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee in 1987. She was a member of the Lady Vols swim team from 1982-1984 where she was an All-American. She also has completed Master of Arts courses in Clinical Psychology with emphasis in assessment, psychological testing, motivation, and cognitive-behavior therapy at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Head Age Group Coach, Gold Groups Coach
Coach Mirko comes to Midway Aquatics with 12 years of coaching experience. In recent years he coached with Lyons Swim Club, (Assistant Head Coach and interim Co-Head Coach) and with Hornet Swim Club (Head Coach).
While at Hornet’s, Coach Mirko was responsible for running age and senior group swim team, and day to day practices. He coached swimmers ages 6-18 and helped develop swimmers skills, worked closely with Assistant Coaches and Board of Directors on planning and implementing swim season, competition scheduling, education and certification of coaching staff. He managed meet entries for all workout groups and other administrative work required. He coached Regional, State, Zone and Junior National qualifiers. His responsibilities also included educating swimmers and parents on the science and general knowledge of the sport. Coach Mirko doubled the program in size by number of swimmers, coaches and number of facilities available for practices.
Coach Mirko holds an American Swimming Coaches Association Level 3 certificate. He was selected as a coach for Team Illinois for the Mega-Zone Meet in 2008 and Zone Meet in 2010, 2012 and Junior Elite Camp in 2014. Coach Mirko is serving as a member of Age Group Committee at Illinois Swimming. He coached individual and relay state champions and medal winners.
Growing up in Serbia, Coach Mirko was an accomplished swimmer specializing in Butterfly and Individual Medley. He held numerous national titles and competed internationally. He received a B.S. in Economics at the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia before moving to and becoming a citizen of the United States. He has multiple finishes in top three in Illinois Master’s Swimming State Meet and finished two Chicago marathons. Coach Mirko lives in Hyde Park with his family and is looking forward to the opportunity to take on new challenges with Midway Aquatics.

Black Group Coach
Coach Mike is a passionate young man studying Computer Science as an undergraduate at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). His swimming background includes 11 years of competitive swimming and six years of experience teaching elementary and intermediate swim lessons. Coach Mike's coaching style emphasizes technique over speed, especially in the Black Group.
Rudolph Z Henry
Red I & II Group Coach
Rudolph Henry comes to us from Kennedy King and has 40+ years aquatic and teaching experience. He has worked with many Hyde Park athletes individually over the years. Rudolph has an excellent understanding of the need to not only learn the skills but also master the skills before moving on to training. His philosophy meshes well with our club and I believe he will be a huge asset to our program.
