Coach Mike holds a B.S. in Physical Education and coaching from Western Illinois University. He is a level two ASCA swim coach, and a fully certified USA swimming coach. He has coached numerous regional, age group state, and senior qualifiers in his previous 15 years coaching experience. He was also the 13-18 Zone coach for Illinois in 2005 and 2009. Since starting Midway Aquatics in 2005 the club has grown from 25 swimmers to 120, and developed several regional, age group state, and senior state qualifiers. Along with his love of swimming, he enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, and spending time with his family.

Laura Thomas is currently a student at the University of Chicago studying Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. She has been coaching with Midway Aquatics since September 2007 and looks forward to continuing with the club.
While growing up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she swam with YMCA, USA and high school swim teams. Laura’s favorite stroke to swim is butterfly, but her favorite stroke to teach is breaststroke.
